Kristin Fratella
Kristin grew up in Joshua Tree, CA where she quickly fell in love with the outdoors and desert ecology. But to be honest, growing up in a small desert town doesn't present much opportunity. Still, Kristin made the most of her time there volunteering with National Park’s Desert Institute while attending Copper Mountain College. To explore life beyond the creosote scrub, she headed to Oregon and pursued a Biology degree, dabbled in science outreach, and spent 4 years in a molecular biology lab. Lucky for us, Kristin was in desperate need of some outside time and was ready to return to her desert roots.
She decided to chase her dream of conservation and wildlife biology, and so joined Oregon State University’s Graduate Certificate program for Wildlife Management. There she met Christina Aiello and the Epps lab. Kristin was a perfect fit for our team and combines all her interests, skills, and hobbies working on the Bighorn Sheep Connectivity Project. She has worked in the field, the lab, on data analysis, and even media design. Honestly, we just couldn’t get her to leave. All joking aside, we would keep Kristin forever if we could, but soon she’ll be working with the Forest Service to monitor white-headed woodpeckers in the Blue Mountains of Oregon. Deep down in our hearts we know Kristin will also discreetly look for bighorn sheep while she’s there. |
